In the wake of the Paris shooting, yet another mass gunning plagued America, with the latest one leaving at least 14 dead and 17 injured.

"At least 14 people were killed and 17 others injured in a shooting in San Bernardino, California, on Wednesday morning when up to three shooters opened fire during a holiday party at the Inland Regional Center," Mashable reported. "After a car chase during the subsequent manhunt, two suspects dressed in tactical gear were killed, according to police."

The said suspects involved one male and one female. An officer was injured in the ensuing pursuit.

A third person has reportedly been caught. However, the individual's involvement remains to be investigated.

"The violence began around 11 a.m. at the convention building at the Inland Regional Center where employees with the county health department were attending a holiday event," CNN said. "Hours after the shooting, the Inland Regional Center convention center was still an active scene."

The bomb disposal team reportedly had to decide whether to detonate two suspected IEDs. Meanwhile, survivors of the attack allegedly hid in bathrooms and closets, texting to their loved ones about their ordeal.

Authorities said that one of the suspects in the shootings has been identified. Syed Farook, the suspect in question, is "an inspector with the county health department, who abruptly left the event at the Inland Regional Center before the shootings."

"The sources could not say for certain that he was in the SUV, if he was a shooter, or that he is one of the dead," the news source went on. "The sources did say that Syed Farook is known to be a U.S. citizen."

In one of the recent updates, Farook's family was not able to track down the suspect or his wife since Wednesday morning.

The FBI has said that it has not yet been determined whether the attack was motivated by terrorism. However, local authorities speculated that it may be "domestic terrorism," the BBC said.

"I think what they are getting at there, following the Paris attacks, is that they do not have any direct suggestion at this stage that this is an Islamist-style terrorist attack," reported BBC correspondent James Cook from the scene of the attack. "Rather, if it is a terrorist attack it is perhaps some kind if home-grown terrorist attack here in the US."

The female suspect has since been identified as Tashfeen Malik, who is said to be in a relationship with the 28-year-old Farook, according to Reuters. They have a 6 month-old infant, who they left with Farook's mother early Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Farook's family was "bewildered" by his involvement in the attack.

"Why would he do that? Why would he do something like this? I have absolutely no idea. I am in shock myself," said brother-in-law Farhan Khan.

The investigations are still ongoing. Authorities are yet to confirm whether the deceased are indeed Farook and Malik.
