The Samsung Galaxy S3 is a highly capable device, and you're going to need equally impressive software to take advantage of its under-the-hood horsepower. In particular, games can be the true test of a smart device's limits, so let's take a look at a few apps that are eager to make the most of Samsung's flagship smartphone.

Dead Trigger - Free

Whether you watch or read "The Walking Dead," or play "Left 4 Dead" and "Dead Island," Dead Trigger is worth checking out. At no cost, Dead Trigger provides impressive visuals, full 3D environments, enables dismemberment, and all around sates players' zombie-killing lusts. Be warned though, micro transactions reside here.

Modern Combat 3- $4.99

Bearing more than a passing resemblance to Activision's Modern Warfare franchise, Modern Combat 3 provides gamers with a 13-mission campaign alongside a full multiplayer mode featuring 6 maps and 7 modes. Up to 12 players can face off in these arenas. If you are willing to look over the shameless similarities between Modern Combat 3 and Modern Warfare 3, the app will provide a serviceable stand-in for on-the-go gamers.

Machinarium - $4.99

If you're looking for a striking hand-drawn steam punk visual style painted over a quirky puzzle driven adventure game, Machinarium is right up your alley. Players assume the role of a robot named Josef as he goes on an adventure to "save his robot girlfriend."

Fruit Ninja-$1.22

Fruit Ninja is a fairly straightforward game, simply requiring players to swipe across various pieces of fruit as they fly across the screen to accumulate high scores. Modes include "Classic, Zen and the new Arcade, featuring powerups including Freeze, Frenzy and Double Score! The bonus Dojo section includes unlockable blades and backgrounds, and you can also unlock achievements and post scores to the online leaderboards with Openfeint."
