Two devices under the OnePlus banner will be getting their share of Android 6.0 Marshmallow love by early next year courtesy of a company staff member who revealed the roadmap of the company via the OnePlus official forum.

The actual dates of release weren’t divulged but the sure thing is that there will be a Android update coming in Q1 as Cyanogen is already hard at work on the update despite the public breakup between the two companies.

Regardless, Cyanogen stands by its commitment to offer the necessary updates which were earlier rumored be coming out as early as next month (December) though this pertained to the CyanogenMod 13 based on Android 6.0 and not the commercial version Cyanogen OS 13.

As for the semi-official Oxygen OS build for the OnePlus One, the company says that the update will be out in due time and once permitted.

With the rollout expected by the first quarter of 2016, an Android 6.0 Marshmallow will reportedly be hitting the OnePlus 2 as well.

Further to the OnePlus 2, an Oxygen OS will also be coming out. However, founder Carl Pei stressed that the update will not include a custom fingerprint API but instead bring Google’s standard fingerprint sensor API which is actually built in the Android 6.0 M.

Hopefully, these revelations will push through as mentioned considering that the company did find itself falling short last year when they were unable to release the Android Lollipop to the OnePlus One within the promised 90-day period from its official launch.

This time and with the Android 6.0 M slowly covering a lot of ground, Pei and the company are implementing a conservative approach and hopefully deliver the latest Android OS for users aching to see the new improvements and perks for their OnePlus devices.

And while the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 seem to be on course of getting that Android 6.0 M bump, there is one variant which may not be getting its patch update just yet – the OnePlus X.

The same post at the official OnePlus forums states that they are still working on the version for the OnePlus X and that an update on the progress will be announced in due time.

With Android 6.0 M apparently not covering the OnePlus X, the patch hopefully comes out by the second quarter once OnePlus is able to roll out the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 versions for its customers in Q1.
