Barring any last minute changes, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose are the top favorites to come out of their respective semifinal pairing to square off for the biggest price of them all – the WWE Heavyweight title.

The title was made vacant when Seth Rollins went down to injury that will sideline him for at least six months. The original plan was to have Seth Rollins face Reigns but apparently the untimely injury forced the WWE to scrap that and scramble for a new storyline which of course came in the form of the WWE Heavyweight title tournament.

Both Reigns and Ambrose are on the opposite sides of the bracket but are expectedly among the final four combatants. Reigns will face the United States champion Alberto Del Rio while Ambrose takes on the unpredictable Intercontinental champion Kevin Owens.

Between the two face-offs, more pressure seems to be on Ambrose since Owens could pull the rug from under him and enter the final dance.

Assuming that Ambrose and Reigns do make it, there is now growing chatter that the eventual champion may not be Reigns after all, well at least a 70-30 chance in favor of the Lunatic Fringe.

How did this happen?

Well apparently some folks that aside from WWE CEO Vince McMahon, some decision makers are leaning on an Ambrose victory which could be a stunning turn of events for WWE Survivor Series.

This would mean that Reigns’ ambitions of ruling on top will severely be dampened again but could be the spark for that much talked about heel-turn.

But what if Reigns wins?

The result could be the opposite seeing Ambrose turning heel and maybe even aligning with the Authority. From there, we get a whole new WWE storyline with lots of major twists.

Without question, Ambrose is a big fan favorite right now and has been on hanging around on Reigns’ shadow. So with an opportunity like that, why not go for it all at the expense of his friend?

In a way, it is turning out to be another way of screwing Reigns from being champion where the Authority could have a hand on it. Remember how Reigns shunned Triple H’s offer of getting a free ride during WWE Raw?

The thing is, McMahon is still standing pat on wanting Reigns to be the new face of the WWE but these turn of events does bring up a familiar scenario for the Big Dog.

Remember how the WWE had to do damage control after the WWE Royal Rumble which Reigns won? Well it could happen again with one of the ‘Shield brothers’ probably turning heel before the night is over.
