HTC's recent launch, the Droid DNA, didn't fare so well with the critics, who cited the handset's dismal battery life as a chief drawback. Their next flagship smartphone, the rumored HTC M7, looks like its could be the winner the HTC One X was, according to recent reports.

HTC-centered website HTC Source reports that HTC is acquiring the necessary materials to produce 4-5 million HTC M7s in Q1 2013. The Taiwanese-based company has apparently been conducting discussions with semiconductor and casing suppliers. The information comes to HTC Source via multiple unnamed sources.

"The market's growing optimism over HTC's better-than-seasonal sales in the first quarter of next year, and the expected launch of its 2013 flagship model "M7" in March, has fueled its share price recently, said CK Cheng, a Taipei-based analyst at CLSA," Analyst CK Cheng from Focus Taiwan stated in a report.

HTC Source also reports that HTC is shooting for a Q1 2013 release in order to get the jump on Samsung, which is said to unveil a Galaxy S4 with an unbreakable 1080p display in April 2013.

The HTC M7 is rumored to have a 5-inch 1080p display with a 1920X1080 resolution, a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor, a 13-megapixel camera, and a uni-body aluminum shell. The handset should be running the latest version of Android at the time of its release.

Currently, there is no information regarding pricing or carrier details about the HTC One X and HTC has not yet commented on the reports or rumors.

Does the HTC M7 have you excited? Or does the Samsung Galaxy S4, with its rumored 1080p display and 13-megapixel camera?
