The last expansion to the "Starcraft II" series "Legacy of the Void" will soon be available for players everywhere, and while video game developer Blizzard has confirmed that the game will continue to receive support from the company via DLC and new mission packs, players are left wondering if a new real-time strategy game will ever be released.

Gamespot reports that "Starcraft II" lead developer Tim Morten has stated that "Starcraft III" or "Warcraft 4" are possible, but it would depend on what the fans of the two series really want. Morten goes on to say that the current focus of Blizzard is the content that was previewed during the recently concluded Blizzcon 2015.

However, that doesn't mean that new games in the RTS department of Blizzard are completely closed off, as Blizzard has gotten a reputation for listening to the feedback and requests of its fans. Morten states that the feedback from fans with regards to the updates and patches of "Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void" will help shape the future for any RTS game that the company will release in the future.

According to PC Invasion, Morten also goes on to say that anything is really possible at this point, and that Blizzard is not restricted to certain titles because of what is happening in other games. The biggest example of this would be that "Warcraft 4" would not be a title considered for RTS because of the huge popularity of the MMORPG "World of Warcraft", which continues to be Blizzard's top-earning game.

The biggest factor that would need to be considered is how the story of each title made moving forward would affect the story of the previous games. Morten states that this is the biggest question that developers at Blizzard need to answer during the development of every game. Therefore, although it is easy for fans to rave on a new RTS game for their favorite series, Blizzard might have a hard time continuing the story that has already been put in place from other games.

Again, the example of "Warcraft" comes into play here as "World of Warcraft" has a very unique and deep story that is difficult to deviate from. While WoW did actually further the story from "Warcraft 3," continuing the story into "Warcraft 4" might prove to be a task too hard to hurdle at this time.
