A new plot rumor about the 2017 "Wonder Woman" solo film is circulating; and it explains how the film is linked to the "Batman vs Superman" movie set for release next year.

According to Heroic Hollywood, set to play a backdrop supervillain in the film is god of war, Ares, puppeteering the chain of events. Meanwhile, the sorceress Circe, rumored to be portrayed by Nicole Kidman, is the main villain in "Wonder Woman."

The theory is, Ares wants an Amazonian sword with immense power said to be locked away under the protective wing of the god Themyscira, supposedly making him the most powerful god in the universe. However, he has yet to unlock the sword's powers, so Themyscira asks Circe's help to unlock the sword's power and start World War III. Themyscira's power mainly comes from the "psychic energy of death and destruction," and because of this, he uses his power to forge war and conquer Olympus and Zeus (the god of sky and thunder.)

Fast forward to the end of "Wonder Woman," and audiences will allegedly find Circe defeated. However, the powerful Amazonian sword suddenly disappears. This is where the "Batman vs Superman" and "Wonder Woman" connection comes in. In order to find the sword, Diana Prince, Wonder Woman's alter ego, will go looking for it in "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice."

There is also a suggestion that Batman will do a short cameo in Gal Gadot's film, since he's also looking for the sword.

According to Screen Rant, if the rumors prove true, Ares will be a Thanos-like presence as in the Marvel universe. Ares will be playing the bigger behind-the-scenes villain while Circe will stay for just one film.

The "Batman vs Superman" trailer showed Wonder Woman battling an unknown villain, so it could be Ares that they're showing rather than Doomsday. Another possibility is Ares appearing as the villain in "Justice League" Part One, while Doomsday in "Justice League" Part Two.

According to Cinema Blend, Gadot said the following of Prince's superpowers in an interview with Israeli publication, Ynetnews:

"She has unbelievable endurance. She is exceptionally strong. She can jump really high and practically fly. She know tons of martial arts styles. She is a strong and serious Woman."

All these rumors are certainly possible, albeit complicated. But in the meantime, nothing is sure, and fans have to wait and see how Warner Bros will connect their superhero movies with each other.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" shows in cinemas March 25, 2016, while "Wonder Woman" is set for release on June 23, 2017."
