Robert Downey Jr. will return for Iron Man 4, at least according to "Iron Man 3" Director Shane Black. With this news, fans are now clamoring for any type update on the film. Rumors are, Tony Stark will have a new love interest, and who it is will shock fans.

The "Iron Man" comic book set for release in 2016 will be worked on by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev, and Bendis will be adding a new character into the mix that had fans reacting negatively, according to CrossMap.

In an interview with Marvel, Bendis said he will be adding Mary Jane Watson, Peter Parker's soul mate, into the "Iron Man" world.

"They know each other. She used to live in Avengers Tower. But that's all I'm going to say for now because what kind of relationship they end up having been a big part of what I would like people to buy the book for. But what I can tell you is that it is new territory for both Tony and Mary Jane. And that is pretty exciting to write." Bendis said.

The production for "Iron Man 4" was announced as already in the process, however, according to Master Herald, the release date has been pushed way back. For this reason, fans are speculating as to the date of the release, with reports claiming that it will be shown by the end of 2019.

More rumors are formed by fans too since the complete cast list hasn't been announced. Ty Simpkins was reported to possibly play a major part in "Iron Man 4," but Master Herald has no exact details at the moment.

There are also reportedly rumors that a younger Tony Stark will be featured in "Iron Man 4," meaning there could be some interesting flashbacks or plot twists in the film.

As for Robert Downey Jr., who has played the role of the state-of-the-art superhero in the last three films, Shane Black may be wrong in supposing that the actor will be returning in "Iron Man 4." Again, rumors surround the actor's return since he allegedly hasn't confirmed his return to the franchise yet.

He may be asking for a pay raise and is renegotiating his contract. It also remains unknown what his current asking price is. There have been various reports of his exact asking price, but since it's confidential information, it would be hard to be hard to say since the official front would be making no such announcement.

In any case, according to CrossMap, Robert Downey Jr. earned $80 million in "Avengers: Age of Ultron," therefore it is safe to assume that he would be earning more if he returns in "Iron Man 4."
