The gore. The blood-curdling screams. The horrific plot twists. They're all not your cup of tea, even for Halloween. But you're not exactly against getting the goosebumps every now and then.

For all of you looking for "horror lite" movies to watch for Halloween 2015, check out these not-so-scary films.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

"Although the title makes the film sound a little scary, I see The Nightmare Before Christmas as a positive story, without any truly bad characters," Tim Burton said of his film, according to Disney's official blog. "The characters are trying to do something good and just get a little mixed up."

And that's essentially what makes this stop-motion animated flick pretty much a non-scary one for adults, but a bit creepy for younger kids. Plus there's the fact that it straddles the Halloween and upcoming Christmas season nicely, too.

Hocus Pocus

You can't go wrong with a trio of capable actresses playing the Sanderson sisters, otherwise known as the witches. Although this primarily will amuse kids, adults will find this movie fun and humorous enough to qualify as adequate, scare-free Halloween entertainment.

Edward Scissorhands

Seeing a pattern here? A second Tim Burton film on this list should serve as a hint telling you to consider other Burton flicks as viable horror-lite Halloween movie-viewing options.

Johnny Depp as the titular character may look really scary, but you'll soon find in the movie that some normal-looking humans are the ones to be feared.

The Addams Family

This is a great choice for the whole family. It's got a Halloween theme without the nightmarish scare factor, and there's adequate acting and production to go with it, too.

"They may be creepy, mysterious, and spooky, but above all, the Addamses are kooky - making this a fun flick the whole family can watch," Popsugar aptly described the flick.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

No, this is not the one starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. However, it's fine enough for Halloween viewing - that is, if you manage not to keep comparing the actress who did the TV version from Kristy Swanson, the star in the film version.

"No, the Buffy movie is nowhere near as good as the TV series, but it does have some funny one-liners, '90s fashion, and Kristy Swanson kicking butt," Bustle said. "It's a fun diversion with vampires and a high school girl owning her power. Just try not to compare it to the Buffy you know and love and you might end up enjoying it."
