The Samsung Galaxy S6 might not have hit the mainstream market yet but already rumors about the next generation handset, the Samsung Galaxy S7 has started swirling. The latest to have emerged is that it will have a USB Type-C port instead of the microUSB port that both the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Samsung Galaxy S6 have.

Unnamed sources confirmed to SAMMOBILE that the next flagship phone from Samsung will come equipped with a USB Type-C Port. What exactly is the benefit of this new feature and what is its advantage over the previous Samsung mobile phones and competition phones?

According to CNET, a Type-C port only measures 8.44mm by 2.6mm. With a USB cable this short, both ends are the same, making reversible plugging possible. This USB type, which begun rolling out just this year, supports USB 3.1 with the impressive speed of 10Gbps. The first gadget to ever have a Type-C USB port is Apple's 12-inch Macbook. With the USB Type-C port, different devices will no longer need separate adapters. Furthermore, charging of both peripheral device and host device can be done at the same time.

So how those advantages could be translated for Samsung Galaxy S7? SAMMOBILE highlighted three points: the Samsung Galaxy S7 can be plugged into a device reversibly; it can be charged faster and can transfer data in the shortest time allowable.

Aside from the Samsung Galaxy S7, the company is said to be working on another variant. According to a report from Digital Trends, the latest rumor from South Korea is that Samsung is working on two sizes for its next mobile offerings. The sizes of the mobiles currently on the drawing board are 5.2 and 5.8 inches. Digital Trends is guessing that the 5.2 inches unit will be the Galaxy S7 while the 5.8 inches will most probably be the Galaxy S7 Edge. According to rumors from South Korea, both mobile phones will be announced in the first months of 2016.

Meanwhile, 3D Future is out with its concept designs of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. The website is also reporting that announcement for the next generation phone will be made in 2016.

The concept designs from the website showed Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge with curves both on the top and on the bottom. The SG6 Edge had curves in the sides. With the change in the curve edges, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge looks more sophisticated with its trapezoid shape.  It also has full metal body that made it look classier than the previous S-lines. 3D Future gave this concept design a water-resistant rating. The website noted that the end product looks very close to Apple's iPhone 6S.
