When will they ever release "Kingdom Hearts 3"?

Nearly 10 years after the game's conceptualization reportedly began, there is still no clear news on when the title will be officially released, although it had already been confirmed in 2013 that it was under development. Considering these types of games generally take time to complete, especially when the developers have other projects in the pipeline, it's no wonder it's taken Square Enix ages to cough up "Kingdom Hearts 3."

Recently, however, there has been news that the said title will be "coming at the D23 event in November" according to the game's director, Tetsuya Nomura, as relayed by Gaming Bolt.

Further, Square Enix reportedly already has internally decided on a release window for the upcoming title, and that its development has been on track. According to IGN, talk has it that more information about the game, as well as new footage, will be shared on November 3 at the D23 Expo in Japan. Gaming Bolt had said "Kingdom Hearts III" may be released in 2016.

"Nomura offered a few new bits of information for fans to chew on, including the news that aside from Olympus, most of 'Kingdom Hearts III's' worlds will be completely new additions to the series," IGN said. "Just last week, it was revealed that Tangled would be getting its own world in the game."

"With regard to the story, he also confirmed that while Xehanort's story will be wrapped up in this third proper installment, the Kingdom Hearts series will continue even after his narrative arc has come to a conclusion," the entertainment news outlet added.

Regarding the D23 event in November, the said presentations will "be a talk show-like production with special guests and unique footage of 'Kingdom Hearts 3' in action," IGN said in another update.

"In the previous 'Kingdom Hearts' installments, the main protagonist is known as the boy named Sora, who is accompanied by his team members, the classic Disney characters, Donald Duck and Goofy, as they traverse the "Kingdom Hearts" maps to reach King Mickey or save the Disney princesses," Youth Health noted. "There is no official news yet about the specifics of other playable characters and whether they will be able to use the keyblade as does Sora, or they will have special weapons like the sidekicks Donald and Goofy."

When the game launches, it will be available on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
