After unveiling the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact at the IFA 2015 in Berlin, Germany, will Sony be releasing the new handsets in October?

"The Sony Xperia Z5 has been available for pre-order in Hong Kong, while the Z5 Compact recently made its way in several countries in Europe," Yibada noted.

If these reports are indeed true, it looks like the new devices may be dropping very soon - as soon as this month.

TechnoBuffalo, citing a source, affirmed this in a recent update.

"Sony of Japan recently announced the news in an email sent to subscribers," the tech news portal said. "One of our readers, Mason, translated the email for us and noted that Sony confirms the Xperia Z5 will 'be released in late October.'"

However, it's also possible that the release date may be a bit later than that.

"Our hawk-eyed reader also watched an Xperia Z5 teaser video which, at the 0:26 mark, apparently lists November 1," TechnoBuffalo added. "We're not sure what that's referring to - perhaps a broader launch, maybe even internationally."

Perhaps it's safe to say that the Xperia Z5 may be released somewhere between late October or early November this year.

Very recently, however, it's been discovered that Xperia Z5 Compact is now available on Carphone Warehouse "SIM-free at £449.99, and on a range of contracts," according to PC Advisor.

"You'll notice that the design of the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact is a tweaked with a frosted glass rear cover but more importantly a new flat and rectangular power button," PC Advisor noted. "The screen size and resolution remain at 4.6in and 720p but there's a new processor in the form of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810."

It's not known when Z5 Compact will be available in the US, though.

Meanwhile, the Xperia Z5 has been touted as having a "5.2-inch IPS LCD display screen with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution," according to Yibada.

"It runs on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop version operating system (OS), and comes with a very powerful 23 mega pixel rear-facing camera along with a 5.1 mega pixel camera on the front," the site went on. "Inside, the Xperia Z5 has Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB RAM, and 32GB internal memory that can be expanded up to a whopping 200GB via microSD card."

In other news, there have been speculations that Sony may slow down its product release cycles considering the annual 2-phone release isn't exactly doing their revenues a favor. As such, it's possible that we won't be seeing an Xperia Z6 for quite a while, giving us a lot of time to milk the Z5 for all it's worth.
