The stage has apparently been set for the beginning of the filming of DC Comics' Wonder Woman movie.

According to Yibada, the movie will be filmed in Basilicata, Italy. The area is known for its mountain ranges, dark forests and valleys. The setting seems perfect to show the origins of the world's strongest woman. As the homeland of the Amazons, the fictional island of Themyscira has a lot of European / Greek feel to it.

For those who do not know, in the comics, Wonder Woman was the daughter of the Queen of the Amazons Hippolyte. As the Queen could not have children of her own because there were no males on the island, Wonder Woman was made from the clay of the Earth and given life through the magic of the Greek deities. She was given the beauty of Aphrodite, the wisdom of Athena, the strength of Demeter, the speed and flight capability of Hermes, the eyes of the hunter and unity with animals of Artemis, as well as the sisterhood of fire and the ability to discern truth by Hestia.

Diana, Wonder Woman's real name, soon became the most powerful warrior of the tribe and was chosen to be the ambassador to the "Men's World" by her people.  She was known to the outside world as Diana of Themyscira and was the ambassador of peace and goodwill to the rest of the planet. Diana was given her iconic costume that has magical bracelets and lasso of truth. Her primary outfit was in honor of the host country that she would primarily deal with, America.

With that being said, it has been confirmed that Gal Gadot of the "Fast and Furious" franchise has been billed to portray Diana. Chris Pine of the "Star Trek" reboot has also been confirmed to play Steve Trevor, the love interest of Diana.

In addition, the movie also gathered talent that will be behind the cameras. Screen Rant reports that Bill Westenofer will be in charge of special effects, while Patty Jenkins has been confirmed as the film's director.

There has been no word yet on the central plot of the film, but rumors say that this will cover Wonder Woman's origins, hence the European setting.

The character of Wonder Woman will have her on-screen debut in another movie, however, as the Amazonian princess is set to have a role in the upcoming "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" movie that is slated on March 25, 2016, while her solo movie is set for a June 23, 2017 release.
