Sony has announced a long-awaited confirmation of the next two sequels to the "Bad Boys" franchise -- "Bad Boys 3" is slated to hit theatres on Feb. 17, 2017, and "Bad Boys 4″ will be released on July 3, 2019. The comedic crime-fighting duo is rumored to appear in the third installment, however there is no confirmation on the fourth film.

Last year, Martin Lawrence appeared on "Conan" and let it slip that there seemed to be another "Bad Boys" movie coming up. When the host asked if the third installment was in the works, he made it clear that progress was indeed being made.

"I believe so, yes. I just talked to [producer] Jerry Bruckheimer yesterday and he said it's real; they're working on the script, they're getting close, and it all looks good," he replied.

What about his taller counterpart, Will Smith? Although the "Big Momma's House" comedian did not clearly state whether Smith would appear in the film, his retort regarding Conan's request for a brief appearance made it safe to assume so. "I will mention to Will Smith and Jerry Bruckheimer that Conan wants a cameo in the movie," he said.

In April of 2014, Bruckheimer reportedly commented that continuing the franchise was a series of bad timing, mostly thanks to busybody Smith, Slashfilm.com reported.

"It's so funny because we'll get Sony real excited to make the movie, and then Will [Smith] is off doing two movies," he said. "And then, Will will come back and be real excited about it, and Sony will say, 'Well, maybe it's not the time for this.'"

"And then, Ride Along came out and was a big hit, and now they're all excited to make the movie, but Will is off doing something else," he added. "It's just trying to get everybody together to make it. But, we're working on the script. We have a lot of faith and hope that we'll do it."

Ugh, the torture! Although confirmation of both Lawrence and Smith is a bit dismal, it seems promising. At least, fans can hang onto the promise of two action-packed films until further notice.
