Apple is already king in the tablet market but they're banking on their latest variation to create a further dent.

The iPad Mini has been released in over 40 countries in the last two weeks but the Wi-Fi with Cellular model is set to launch later this month, but until then, there are many features and terms on the new iPad that many might not be familiar with once they decide to purchase the tablet.

Networks: The iPad Mini's Wi-Fi only model will be compatible with 2G networks but the Wi-Fi with Cellular model will be available in 3G, and 4G LTE networks, on top of the 2G.

According to Webopedia, Gs the terms are from the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), an intergovernmental organization that develops telecommunications. This organization is even recognized as a United Nations agency back in 1947.

3G is an ITU specification, and it stands for third generation. With 3G, the bandwidth is increased to 384 kilobites (kbps), which measures data transfer speeds.

4G is the fourth generation and enables data and streaming multimedia at higher speeds. The Long Term Evolution, or LTE, was developed by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) that helps provides an increase of speeds up to 10 times more compared to 3G networks. Verizon currently has the most 4G coverage in the US.

Display/Screen Size: The iPad Mini has a height of 7.87-inches and a width of 5.30-inches. Its weight stands at 11.02 oz with a thickness of 0.28-inches.

The tablet is covered in Oleophobic coating, which is resistant to oil and protects the phone from natural finger oil or skin oil when talking on the phone.

The screen measures at 7.9-inches and with a LED-backlit (light-emitting diode) IPS (In-Plane Switching) LCD (liquid crystal display) capacitive touchscreen.

Resolution: The resolution of the screen is will be 1,024x768 with 162 ppi (pixels per inch).

The resolution indicates the number of dots per inch (DPI). The higher the DPI, then the higher the resolution. The iPad Mini will be capable of displaying 1,024 distinctive dots, or pixels, on each of the 768 lines.

Memory (GB/RAM): The device will be will have an internal memory storage of 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB and with 512 of RAM, according to GSM Arena.

A GB is known as a gigabyte, and one-gigabyte holds up to 1,024 megabytes. If it will offer 16GB, then it equals to 16,384 megabytes.

The term "byte" is actually an abbreviation for "binary term," and is a unit of storage.

A RAM, short for Random Access Memory, is the most common type of computer memory found in devices.

Battery Capacity: The battery capacity for the iPad Mini is 4,400 mAh.

Short for Milliampere-hour, mAh indicates how batteries are rated for capacity power. The higher the mAh, then the stronger and healthier the battery of the device. Due to the battery capacity, standby and talk time improves when the mAh is higher.

Wireless Connectivity (Bluetooth): The iPad Mini features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth version 4.0. Bluetooth is a wireless protocol for exchanging data over short distances from fixed and mobile devices, creating personal area networks.

Processor (CPU): The iPad Mini's processor is the Dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A9 while utilizing the dual-core Apple A5 chipset.

According to ARM, the Dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A9 "is the power-efficient and popular high performance choice in low power or thermally constrained cost-sensitive devices."

The processor is considered as the brains of the device and the most important element of the tablet.

iOS 6: The iOS is Apple's mobile operating system (OS). The OS' purpose is to be a software platform that helps other programs within the device run as smoothly as possible.

The iOS was originally known as the iPhone OS but was renamed in 2010 as the OS was introduced to other products such as iPod Touch, iPad, and Apple TV. The iOS 6 is Apple's sixth update for its mobile OS. The iOS 6 contains additional programs not seen on other rival OS such as from Android which has the Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean.
