It looks like gamers would have to wait a while longer as "The Legend of Zelda" release date has been confirmed by Nintendo to be delayed. The once promised 2015 game has been pushed to a 2016 release.

Gamers were ecstatic when Nintendo promised "The Legend of Zelda" release date was going to be on 2015 when it was first announced for the Wii U. When rumors appeared that the release date has been delayed, however, fans weren't quick to believe such speculations and they've hoped that the game would be released this 2015 just the same. It seems though that the rumors were indeed true as Nintendo confirmed that the game would be delayed to 2016.

As was noted by Ecumenical News, "The Legend of Zelda" release date has been changed to  2016. The report notes that it was during March 2015 when producer, Eiji Aonuma hinted that the game may not be released this year because they are looking into making a better "Zelda" game rather than trying to meet a deadline.

"So, I must apologize to you all that were expecting the game by year's end, but we are no longer making a 2015 release our number one priority. Instead, our priority is to make it the most complete and ultimate Zelda game," said Aonuma.

Ecumenical News then stated that the release date change was most likely pushed through when "The Legend of Zelda" for Wii U did not appear on E3 and the game's entry in the official Nintendo website will show that "The Legend of Zelda" was removed from the 2015 game release line-up.

However, there could be a silver lining to all of this as "The Legend of Zelda" release date could be on July 2016 to meet the expected launch date of the Nintendo NX.

As was noted by Master Herald, it has been rumored that "The Legend of Zelda" game might actually end up being released on the Nintendo NX.

Master Herald notes that the rumors about a multi-platform "Legend of Zelda" is true as the game could be used as a launch title to promote the Nintendo NX.

The report by Master Herald also notes that the "Legend of Zelda" being a multi-platform release would be a very smart move from Nintendo as the game would draw a lot of attention and it could increase the sales of the Nintendo NX.
