Good news for "X-Files" fans as a new cast member have been added while new details about the revival series have been unveiled as well.

The "X-Files" is one of the most well-loved sci-fi franchises of all time and when it was announced that the series would have another season, fans immediately got excited to see Mulder and Scully back in action as they try to find the truth out there.

As the production in Vancouver progresses, Fox has unveiled a teaser trailer for the upcoming "X-Files" revival series that got fans even more excited for the series. But now, fans can get even more hyped for the "X-Files" revival series as another cast member has been added as top notch comedian, Kumail Nanjiani has joined the show.

According to Sean K. Cureton of Screen Rant, the actor-comedian Kumail Nanjiani has confirmed on Twitter that he would be joining the "X-Files" revival series.

As was noted in the report, Kumail Nanjiani will be playing the role of an animal control officer in an episode written by Darin Morgan.

In a report by Devan Coggan of Entertainment Weekly, it was stated that Kumail Nanjiani is a huge fan of the "X-Files" that he even has a podcast about it and that he was able to get David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson to reminisce about the old "X-Files" episodes and that he plans on sharing them on his podcast soon. The report by Entertainment Weekly also notes that Kumail Nanjiani has been tweeting about some behind the scenes action at the set of the "X-Files" revival series.

Screen Rant notes that the plot of the "X-Files" revival series is a bit shrouded in mystery at the moment but series regulars have been reported to have returned to show.

William B. Davis, Annabeth Gish and Robert Patrick are rumored to reprise their roles of the "Cigarette-Smoking Man" and agents Monica Reyes and John Doggett ,respectively, notes Screen Rant.

The "X-Files" is set to air on Jan 24, 2016.
