Television network USA just renewed the series Suits for another season with 16 episodes.

Suits is a television series set in a fictional law firm in New York City. It first aired in 2011on the USA network. The show focuses on Mike Ross who is a college dropout and Harvey Specter who's a top 3 Harvard graduate and the city's best closer. Ross worked for Specter as law associate despite never attending law school. He passed the bar exam and helps Specter with his cases using an encyclopedic knowledge in law due to Ross' eidetic memory.

Ross is portrayed by Patrick J. Adams while Specter is played by Gabriel Macht. Co-star Sarrah Rafferty plays the duo's assistant, Donna Paulsen. Another addition to the cast are Maghan Markle as Ross' fiancée Rachel Zane, Gina Torres as Jessica Lourdes Pearson who is a co-founder of the law firm, and Rick Hoffman as Louis Lity who is Specter's Rival and fellow Harvard alum.

USA network Chris McCumber said that Suits sets a high bar. Deadline reports that McCumber regards the show as a strong performer and a marquee property of USA. Despite the previous season's low rating, USA network held on to the series as a flagship show. When the first episode of season 5 aired last Wednesday, the show garnered 3.4 million viewers total. The views alone were not that bad, and apparently enough for McCumber to give the show another shot, as reported in Cinema Blend.

The reason for the show's only average rating is due to its complexity and upscale plots. This requires a certain set of viewers with a more educated background, which could prove to be an uphill battle for ratings in contrast shows like Fresh off the Boat, The Flash and the like.

The first episode of this season shows viewers the consequences of Season 4's finale where Mike and Rachel got engaged, Donna and Harvey are finally getting their relationship a go, and Ross' work as an investment banker is over. With these changes, the show's setting should start to feel familiar for fans.

The main element of the show is the court room and the back door negotiations between astute individuals who had fully mapped the law book. Fans should be pleased to know that the show is heading back to its roots

The new season of Suits should rile up the fans with more exciting and stimulating cases and hopefully increase the ratings. Catch Suits season 5 every Wednesday at 9 p.m.
