The game “SkylandersSuperChargers” will be officially released on Sep. 20, 2015, and will playable on the Nintendo 3DS, WiiU, Wii, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and iPad.

Game developer Vicarious Visions primarily intended “SkylandersSuperChargers” for a younger audience. Game publisher Activision had a lot of success with the previous games in the “toy-to-life” game franchise, aiming for the upcoming version to be the top gaming franchise for children in 2015.

Previous “Skylanders” games had a specific them, such as “Skylanders Swap Force” which featured customizable figures. “Skylanders Giants’ focused on traditional figures and increasing these in size. The 2014 version presented traps that let gamers catch and use villains during combat. “SuperChargers” will introduce vehicles for land, air and water, GameRant reported.

There will be 20 characters and 20 vehicles in “SkylandersSuperChargers”. Eight traditional characters will be making a comeback. There will be one signature vehicle for every character, so matching the two will provide a bonus. Players, can however, let any character ride any vehicle. During the game demo, Vicarious Visions featured the submarine called “Reef Ripper” being piloted by Shark Shooter Terrafin. Vehicles can also acquire new parts, which will result to changing abilities.

Based on the same GameRant article, there will be two characters and the “Hot Streak Hotrod” with the starter kit. The game can actually be finished using only land vehicles. However, most of the game is comprised of side missions where players can use water and air vehicles. The land vehicles are focused on speed and racing, water vehicles are ideal for exploration and light combat while air vehicles are great for dynamic dogfights. There will also be light puzzles in the game for 6 to 12 year-olds.

Two classic Nintendo characters, Donkey Kong and Bowser, will be guest starring “SkylandersSuperChargers”. The two characters will have brand new amiibo figurines and companion vehicles, namely the Donkey Kong Barrel Blaster and Bowser Clown Cruiser. GameRant revealed that the starter pack for Wii U will retail for $74.99 and include the Turbo Charge Donkey Kong. The starter packs for the Wii and 3DS will cost $74.99 and $64.99 respectively and feature the Hammer Slam Bowser.

Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo America, said that they chose Donkey Kong and Bowser to headline “SkylandersSuperChargers” because the game is all about creatures. The two creature-like gameplay mechanics and movements of the two characters fit their objectives very well.
