Fans of "Games of Thrones" are prepared to expect the unexpected since it's a show that has no mercy with regard killing off major characters. However, it should be good news for all the Jon Snow fans since Kit Harrington was one of those who renewed his contract for Season 6 of the hit HBO series.

All Jon Snow fans can now breath a sigh of relief as it's been revealed that he will survive Season 5 of "Game of Thrones." Harrington is one of the six actors whose contracts have been renewed according to Express UK. It was also reported that casts of the hit TV series were offered significant pay raise for remaining in the fifth and for those who will be part of the sixth season.

Harrington did an interview with Huffington Post Live and reminded fans that they can't expect the characters to be safe.

"You can't count on Jon Snow being safe or Tyrion being safe or anyone being safe, so it keeps people on the edge of their seat, and that's why it's good drama," he mentioned. Harrington added, "There are some huge shocks some huge set pieces - it's going to be epic. I can't tell you what shocks they involve or who they involve, but you'll enjoy it."

In the latest episode of "Game of Thrones" that aired last June 7, Jon Snow was seen battling with the wildings and trying to win against the attack of the white walkers in Hardhome. It was a thrilling episode that left fans wondering whether Jon's character will be killed this season.

An article by Master Herald noted that Jon Snow was left brutally stabbed by his brother in an ambush in the fifth novel titled "A Dance with Dragons." It wasn't clear to the fans whether he will have the same fate as in George R.R. Martin's book.

The article stated that a deviation from the book's story may or may not happen in the series but with Kit Harrington's contract renewed, it's definitely a good sign.

Overall, Jon Snow's fate will be determined in the six and final book of Martin's famous novel "A Song of Ice and Fire." George R.R. Martin recently revealed that he is determined to finish the sixth book which has a title "The Winds of Winter."

"Game of Thrones" Season 6 is currently in post-production in Spain and will be released in Spring of 2016.
