Ryan Gosling gushes over his girlfriend, Eva Mendes, as he talks about his ladylove's new movie "Los River" where this time, he plays as director.

The 34-year-old Hollywood heartthrob had nothing but praises for his girlfriend as he talks about his latest project in Australia's Sunday Style. Daily Telegraph reports that Gosling was asked what it was like to work with Mendes who is star in the film.

"She indirectly picked things that became very important to different people involved," Gosling said. "Never wanting credit. She hates credit and she'll even be mad that I'm giving her that credit. But she was very helpful in so many ways."

Daily Mail reports that the 41-year-old actress would go and help Gosling and the costume designer pick out clothes for other actors in thrift shops. His boyfriend and now her director for the movie praised her talent for it.

The movie "Lost River" only had a small budget, thus saving as much as they can was imperative. It was released in the US this year and tells the story of a mom and her teenage son. The movie also stars Christina Hendricks and actor Iain De Caestecker.

According to E! Online, the film made Gosling very reminiscent of his past back when he was just in high school and only had big dreams. Although he is one of Hollywood's elite group of hunks now, he admitted that it wasn't like that when he was younger.

"Growing up, I never played sports. And I guess, growing up, the guys girls liked were jocks or you know that sort of thing and because I never did that; I was in dance class and things like that. Also I just grew up around a lot of girls," Gosling shared.  "I was [involved] in a lot of their conversations about guys and I found it frustrating because I felt like I must not be a threat if they're being so open in front of me. That used to bother me [laughs]. Yeah, that bothered me. I didn't like that."

At the moment, Gosling is going steady with Mendes whom he welcomed a baby girl with September of last year. They named their daughter Esmeralda Amanda, which was picked after the Victor Hugo novel they both love.

The pair has been together since 2011 when they met on the set of "The Place Beyond the Pines." They were on and off for a while before reuniting again last year.
