The upcoming "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" movie will not exactly be a sequel to the "Man of Steel" movie, lead actor Henry Cavill revealed. This is according to the report of Cinema Blend which cited the interview of MTV with the actor.

"I wouldn't call this a Superman sequel," Cavill tells MTV. "This is Batman vs. Superman so it's a separate entity altogether. It's introducing the Batman character and expanding upon the universe which was kicked off by Man of Steel.... Everything could change in the editing room, but as it stands it's definitely an introduction to the character and ultimately an introduction to Justice League," the news outlet quoted Cavill saying.

Remember that Comic Book earlier reported that the much-awaited movie will be a sequel to the "Man of Steel" film saying that it will serve as a key to unlock issues related to the previous Superman movie. It said that the movie will focus on Clark Kent's journey and how he grew up. This was seconded by Badass Digest.

"I don't want to give you the impression that this is Batman's movie - it's very much a sequel to 'Man of Steel', and it very much follows up on stuff from that movie in big ways," to quote Badass Digest's Devin Faraci.

Cavill also teased fans that the upcoming movie would indeed be great in an interview with British news site Daily Mail during the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Tea Party. Though the video can no longer be found Coming Soon was able to report that Cavill said, "It's Zack Snyder, so it's going to be a visual spectacle, and it's cinematic history. We're doing Batman and we're doing Superman and it's all happening at the same time. So fingers crossed it turns out to be as exciting as I think it is."

The movie cast list includes Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne and Batman, Henry Cavill as Clark Kent and Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Gal Gadot as Wonderwoman, Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry and Aquaman, and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.

The movie is written by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer. "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice" will hit the theaters on March 25, 2016.
