The new Android L 5.0 continues to roll out on other brands and smartphone models.

GSM Arena reported that on April 14, HTC UK announced that Android Lollipop has become officially available for the HTC Desire Eye and HTC Desire 816.

HTC UK's Twitter handle posted on Twitter, "We are proud to announce that we are rolling out #Lollipop for Desire Eye and 816 smartphones from today. Enjoy!"

The new update will feature a variety of new features and enhancements in performance. However, users will not find the new Sense 7 UI, GSM Arena added. Sense has been upgraded to version 6.5, but users will have to wait longer to see the 7.0 model, which will probably become available when Android 5.1 launches, the outlet explained.

Aside from the two models, Lollipop will also be available on other HTC models, namely the HTC One, HTC Desire E8, HTC Butterfly 2 and HTC One M8, the tech site noted. Many users expect that the update will continue to become available on other devices in the following months, including the HTC One Max, HTC One Mini and HTC One Mini 2.

Android 5.0 Lollipop will present a more colorful Material Design UI with a lot of animation, NDTV Gadgets noted. There will also be improvements in terms of battery usage and the Android Run Time for faster opening of apps.

The outlet also wrote that the update file size is 1008.9MB, citing info from tipster LlabTooFer. It was also claimed that some HTC models will no longer be bundling Sense 7.0UI with the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop but will introduce the new UI to phones with the Lollipop.

Meanwhile, Tech Times reported that HTC will skip Android 5.0.2 for the HTC One M8 and go directly to 5.1 Lollipop at a later time, adding that the HTC One M7 may also receive the 5.1. It also noted that when HTC previously announced that the Android 5.1 Lollipop will not be available on the HTC One M7, users were disappointed, saying that there were several bugs and issues that required fixing via Lollipop.

In response, Product Management VP at HTC Mo Versi posted on Twitter, "I heard you all on M7 5.1 for Carrier versions. Many of the fixes are already in our current SW, but understand your concerns. Stay tuned."

The HTC M9 was recently released as the brand's newest flagship smartphone. The M9 also features the Android 5.0.2 out of the box, together with Sense 7.0 UI. The bundle will most likely be exclusive to the handset.
