Manny Pacquiao may be destined for even greater things after he hangs up his boxing gloves.

TMZ reported that Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum, said that he expects the eight-division champ to run for Presidency in the Philippines in the coming years.

Arum was first asked about Manny's potential to become a professional singer, based on a report by CBS Sports.

The Top Rank boxing chief answered, "Forget that. He's gonna be a president. I think he has a political career."

Arum continued, "He's gonna run for Senate in the Philippines in 2016... and then in 2022 or maybe later, he'll run for President in the Philippines."

Pacquiao is actually already involved in politics in his native country. He is currently serving as a congressman for the province of Saranggani in Southern Philippines. He was elected to office in 2010 and holds a seat in the Philippine House of Representatives, where he is tasked to pass bills and laws. However, due to his busy schedule, he was listed among the congressmen with the most absences.

The next presidential elections in the Philippines is scheduled for 2016, so if Pacquiao actually decides to run for office, he may be aiming for the 2022 bid or later since a Philippine President's term lasts six years.

Inquirer reported that Pacquiao was 32 years old when he won a congressional seat. If he runs in 2022, he will be 43 years old. One of the requirements for a person to become eligible as a candidate for the highest position in the land is to be at least 40 years old.

Perhaps, Pacquiao has a bigger chance to gain the votes of Filipinos all over the country if he wins the historic bout against Floyd Mayweather on May 2. The fight is referred to by many as the "Fight of the Century", expected to rake in over $300 million. It will be the biggest and richest fight in both fighters' careers.

It is only less than three weeks away from the big fight and both fighters are going through the final stages of their preparation. The bout will happen at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Pacquiao also came up with a new music video, which he directed himself. The song, which translates into, "I Will Fight for the Filipino People", is said to be his entrance song at the big match, based on the same report by CBS Sports.
