As Taylor Swift's "1989 World Tour" is fast approaching, where Shawn Mendes will be one of the opening acts, he gushes on how excited he is to be working together with Swift saying, "She's the best person in the world, so I am very excited."

On a recent interview with iHeartradio Music Awards in Los Angeles, Mendes was asked about his upcoming album "Handwritten, and his anticipated performance at Taylor Swift's "1989 World Tour," Fox News reported. He was quoted as saying, "I can't wait. It's going to be so good."

MTV reported that it was late last year when it was announced that he will be performing as a front act for Swift's series of concerts along with Vance Joy. The "1989 Word Tour" will commence this coming May 22nd for the North American leg of her tour. It was reported that the announcement was made just 7 months after Mendes made a name for himself as a Vine star.

In that same interview, Mendes was far from expecting that he will be joining one of the most famous pop stars in recent history for a tour.

Mendes said about opening for Taylor Swift's concert, "It's completely surreal... The fact that I'm going on tour with Taylor Swift like how crazy is that? It's crazy. As crazy as you guys think it is I'm blown away just as much as you guys are. All I can say is that it's surreal I really cant explain it."

He added, "Taylor Swift to me is the coolest tour I could possibly be on ever. You can't really beat that tour so that was the biggest news. It's almost like as a kid when you try out for a rec soccer team or hockey team and you get the call like you made the team. I had that same exact feeling."

According to ET Online, Mendes was initially discovered online in early 2014. He also became the youngest artist to debut a song and listed under the Top 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. Following his hit single "Life of the Party, he was then busy working on his first ever album "Handwritten" that will be released in April 14.

The young artist was pretty excited to share his songs which he has been working so hard for a year. When asked about the record, he simply said, "I want them to know I think it's really good, that I put a lot of hard work into so that they listen to it," ET reported.
