Looks like the show will be overtaking the books.

It has been recently revealed that the hit HBO show "Game of Thrones" will spoil the book series, Mashable said.

Some fans of the fantasy saga may have already suspected this development, but it was only recently that David Benioff and Dan Weiss, showrunners of GOT, confirmed that the TV series will finish ahead of the release of George R.R. Martin's book series.

"Luckily, we've been talking about this with George for a long time, ever since we saw this could happen, and we know where things are heading," benioff explained, as quoted by Vanity Fair. "And so we'll eventually, basically, meet up at pretty much the same place where George is going; there might be a few deviations along the route, but we're heading towards the same destination."

"I kind of wish that there were some things we didn't have to spoil, but we're kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. The show must go on. . .and that's what we're going to do," he said.

However, Benioff reassured fans that despite the "spoilers" revealed in the show, the books still are worth reading through. Those who have watched movie adaptations of bestselling novels may agree with what Benioff said next.

"I think the thing that's kind of fun for George is the idea that he can still have surprises for people even once they've watched the show through to the conclusion," Benioff said, as noted by IGN. "There are certain things that are going to happen in the books that are different in the show, and I think people who love the show and want more-want to know more about the characters, want to know more about the different characters who might not have made the cut for the show-will be able to turn to the books."

Previously, there were speculations about the show running out of books to refer to. However, it appears that HBO has decided to take matters in their hands and plow on, even through "the sixth book in the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series will not be published in 2015," according to Mashable.

Further, it also looks like "Game of Thrones" will run well beyond the targeted seven seasons, The Huffington Post said, as HBO reportedly wants more.

"If the show extends beyond Season 7, that would give Martin more time to complete his final book in the series, A Dream of Spring, and avoid spoilers in the show for a while longer," the news source said.

However, as Benioff explained, it's unthinkable to "put the show on hiatus." "We have to kind of keep pushing forward," Benioff said.
