At UFC 186, CM Punk was asked to share his thoughts on Brock Lesnar's plans to return to the Octagon.

GiveMeSport reported that mixed martial arts journalist Ariel Helwani said that CM Punk supports Lesnar and wanted him to return to UFC. WrestleZone wrote that CM Punk shared that if UFC would make plans to set his debut match together with Lesnar's return, it would result to record-breaking pay-per-view buys.

Lesnar's future with WWE is not yet clear and there have also been recent announcements by Paul Heyman at WWE that Lesnar intends to unite both the UFC and WWE belts.

Sports World News reported that Lesnar will become a free agent after defending his WWE World Heavyweight title at WrestleMania 31 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California on March 29, 2015. There are talks that Lesnar and Vince McMahon are still in dispute, after the former walked out while the two were negotiating a new deal on February 23 at Monday Night RAW. CM Punk himself has negative things to say about WWE, after he left the organization after 2014 Royal Rumble and vowed never to return.

Currently, CM Punk is training with Anthony Pettis.

Pettis said about Punk in The Sporting News, "Yes for sure. I just didn't know what to expect. You see him on TV. I met him a couple times. You really don't know what to expect from anybody. He came into the gym, you come into the practice room and you have two world champions on the floor, you have CM Punk, you have one of the most Olympic level wrestlers and everybody is just training together. Everybody blends in and there's no superstar. There's no one person who gets more attention. It's just a team full of guys that all want to get better."

Fox Sports reported that Lesnar actually opened the opportunity for Punk to join the UFC. The two remain good friends and in constant communication.

Punk said about Lesnar, "He kind of made the blueprint. He made it possible for Dana [White] to look at somebody like me and even make me the offer."

He added, "I asked him what the hardest thing for him to do was; he's a super freak athlete, but something had to be difficult for him. I find it's the exact same thing I'm having difficulty with, and that's learning to let go. Striking, sparring is completely different. Someone's trying to punch me in the face, I'm trying to punch them in the face."

Fans will have to be on the lookout for an announcement from UFC President Dana White whether putting the two WWE Superstars in the same card would mean big business.
