Season nine of ABC's hit medical drama 'Grey's Anatomy' is gearing up to be an eventful season with the doctors of Seattle Grace-Mercy West slowly coming to terms with the events of the fatal plane crash last May.

During this week's hiatus, Latinos Post rounds up the latest spoilers for the rest of the season.

Meredith Grey and Derek Shepherd

Between the loss of her sister Lexie (Chyler Leigh) and his best friend Mark Sloan (Eric Dane), Mer (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) have a lot on their plates this season. Making matters worse, Derek is still suffering from a traumatic hand injury that could take him from the OR forever.

Dempsey revealed to TV Line that his character has some trouble coming to terms with his hand's injuries. "The first couple of episodes, he's trying to perform surgery, and it's not working, so he has to make an adjustment. I'm anxious to see where we end up going with it," he said.

As for Meredith, she has yet to deal with her sister's tragic death and the aftermath of May's plane crash. According to TV Line, the last remaining Grey will have a special episode dedicated to her and estranged best friend Christina Yang (Sandra Oh). Pompeo previewed the episode with TV Line and said, "[Mer] has a super-critical patient. The underlying subtext of my medical case, as usual, is dealing with issues of like my sister's death. Emotionally, things that I haven't dealt with, I sort of play out through taking care of this patient."

Added to Meredith and Derek's family drama will be a visit from another one of Derek's sisters. TV Line confirmed that actress Neve Campbell will appear on the show for at least two episodes as one of Derek's remaining two sisters. Who she will play, either Kathleen or a mysterious unnamed fourth sister, has yet to be revealed.

Christina Yang and Owen Hunt

Tumultuous and on-the-outs couple Christina and Owen (Kevin McKidd) will spend the season dealing with the marital issues while being apart. Christina, who now works at the Mayo Clinic, is still suffering from PTSD.

Owen, on the other hand, will have his hands full with a new group of interns. McKidd told TV Line that his character will clash with new intern Wilson (Camilla Luddington). "She's very strong-willed-she reminds me of Izzie in a way," McKidd said. "She has very strong views. And Owen, being the chief, has to rub up against her and sort of get into ethical battles with her, so it's interesting to see that."

Apart from playing Seattle Grace-Mercy West's chief of staff, McKidd also directed an episode set to air on Oct. 25. He revealed to TV Line, "The first three episodes deal with all the repercussions of the finale, so Episode 4 is very comedic. We needed some lightness. It's good to be dark for a while, but people like to have their lightness... the more kind of slightly zany, screwball stuff that Grey's does so well. Tonally it's so different from the first three episodes of the season."

Callie Torres and Arizona Robbins

It goes without saying that Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona's (Jessica Capshaw) relationship has hit a very rough spot. Following the tragic plane crash that left their daughter fatherless and Arizona with a missing leg, the couple will have to work hard to get back to a happier place in their relationship.

Show creator Shonda Rhimes said that the couple will get out of their relationship funk, but will have to wait a while before getting there. "Callie and Arizona are going to have a fun romance-y, sexy love life again," Rhimes said.

The 'Grey's' creator added, "And you are going to see it this season. That's important to me. I stated in the Writers Room that Arizona could not lose a leg unless we were going to see how a person missing a leg could be sexy and fun and romance-y. So get ready for it - Arizona is gonna get her mojo back in a big way. And (spoiler alert!) it's gonna happen before Valentine's Day."

Jackson Avery and April Kepner

Last season's unexpected-but not out of left-field-couple Jackson (Jesse Williams) and April (Sarah Drew) may be heating up this season. Last fans saw of April, chief-of-staff Owen Hunt courted her back to Seattle. But April's departure from the hospital-during the season's second flashback episode-did not leave things with Jackson in the best place.

Drew told TV Line, "She doesn't realize that Jackson's going to be there, because he was supposed to go to Tulane. But he is there, and that is going to throw a wrench into her plans." She added, "She sort of stood him up. She had to get on a plane, and he didn't have time for her. So she went on with her life and thought she wouldn't ever see him again, and then she walks into the hospital and there he is. It's a funny entrance back into the world!"
