It looks like that we won't be able to see the new Sony flagship device this March as it has been reported that the Japanese electronics firm would likely go with another handset to launch. According to the February 15 report of Master Herald, it is likely that Sony would be showcasing its new Xperia E4 at the 2015 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this March. The news outlet notes that the mid-range Xperia E4 is Sony's "first new smartphone for 2015."

Specs and Features

Based on the spec sheet provided by Sony on its official website, the new Xperia E4 has a 5 inches display with a 960x540 pixel resolution. It is also made up of "scratch-resistant glass." Its dimensions are 137 x 74.6 x 10.5 mm and it weighs 144 grams.

Sony Xperia E4 also has a 5 megapixel main camera with 4x digital zoom. Its front camera on the other hand is a 2 megapixel shooter. The camera also has the following features: auto scene recognition, full HD video recording at 1080p, High Dynamic Range for photos, image stabilizer, and geotagging.

It also comes with a 1 GB of RAM, up to 8 GB of flash memory, and a microSD slot. It also uses Sony's 3D Surround Sound technology and xLoud Experience. It also comes with the Android 4.4.4 KitKat as its operating system.

Long-lasting Battery Life

The most valued feature of the new Xperia E4 device is its long battery life. Sony claims that the new device could last up to two days without charging. Note that it uses a 2300 mAh battery. Plus, users could also activate the Battery STAMINA Mode and Ultra STAMINA Mode to keep the device last for a longer time.

"With Xperia E4, we wanted to offer people some of the premium Sony features they have come to expect - with unparalleled ease of use - at a highly-competitive price point...With a simple set-up, great screen and unrivalled 2 day battery life we've created an on-the-go entertainment device that will keep on going, wherever you are," Tony McNulty, Vice President, Value Category Business Management at Sony Mobile Communications said in a statement posted at Sony's official blog.

The statement also said that fans could expect the new device to launch this mid-February. It added that it might also release a Dual-SIM variant for the handset.

No MWC presscon?

Meanwhile, Xperia Blog reported citing its unidentified sources that Sony has not scheduled press conferences at the upcoming MWC event this March. This news, the International Business Times says, does not necessarily mean that Sony would ditch the annual event. It might be at the event but there is a high chance it won't unveil its new flagship device.

Z4 rumors

However, here are some of the rumored specs of the new Xperia Z4. It is speculated that it will have a display that is more than 5 inches. It is said to have the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage, and 20.7 megapixel main camera. It is also expected to get the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update.
