Some are doubting the rumors that a 6th Generation iPod Touch would be released this year. According to Cross Map, there are at least two reasons as to why the new music player would not hit the market.

First, iPhones, especially the recently released iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, are still selling. According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that there is a "staggering" demand for iPhone and that the "volume is hard to comprehend." This demand has definitely uplift Apple's earnings, boosting it to $18 billion for the fiscal first quarter. This is 38 percent higher than the profits recorded in the same period last year. For the quarter, Apple has sold 74.5 million iPhones, 46 percent higher than last year's sales.

Of course, this would mean that the Cupertino-based company would focus on its iPhone production, leaving the iPod Touch on the dark.

Second, is the iPod still relevant? The iPhone offers its users a lot of things while the iPod Touch lacks a lot of things, such as making and receiving calls and texts. Buying an iPhone is really much of an advantage though the iPod Touch is really the best when it comes to quality audio stereo system. Note that Apple has even discontinued the iPod Classic last year.

Despite many features of the iPod Touch already present in most iPhones, many fans are still raving for the iPod Touch 6th Generation. Many are speculating that the iPod Touch 6th Generation would finally show up during the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 event in Barcelona, Spain this March. Master Herald says that it was earlier speculated that the new iPod would be unveiled after the Chinese New Year. It says this could mean a March 2015 release date for the device. It also speculated that it would be unveiled together with the new Apple Watch and the new operating system, maybe an update of the iOS 8 or a new iOS 9.

Master Herald claims that Apple may actually have launched the new iPod Touch 6th Generation in 2014, but it did not pushed through with it since Apple really wanted to showcase a "perfect music device" which will definitely outshine its other predecessors. Note that the current iPod Touch 5th Generation was unveiled back in September 2012. So it is expected that the new iPod Touch to be released this year would indeed boast of huge improvements and new features and be a "fully-loaded entertainment device."

According to the rumors, the new iPod Touch 6th Generation would just be like the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. How so? This is because it is believed that the device would come in two sizes just like the two new iPhones. Master Herald says the device will have a 5.5 inch version and a 4.7-inch variant.

Aside from that, Christian Today said the new iPod will likely get an A8 processor chip, though there are also those that say that it would probably get a more advanced one, probably an A9 processor. Aside from that, the news outlet also states that it would likely have Apple's new mobile payment service, the Apple Pay.
