Despite the rumors that Apple will be releasing a bigger tablet version this year called iPad Pro or iPad Air Plus, there are brewing speculations that the Cupertino-based firm would hold on to its iPad Air legacy.

Last year, we saw the iPad Air 2 boast of its 6.1 mm thinness, less than a pound weight, and new incredible features including the Touch ID technology. It is definitely one of the best tablets out in the market.

iPad Air 2 has indeed raised the bar, thus also raising the expectations on the next generation of iPads. According to Android Origin, it is likely that Apple would keep its classic iPad design in its next generation of iPads, but due to very tight competition, Apple should step up its game and introduce new exciting features and breakthroughs in its products instead.

More RAM

Though there are still no official and confirmed details about the new iPad Air 3, Android Origin says it is very likely that the new tablet would get a RAM upgrade as Apple announced before that its 2015 products would feature more memory. Christian Today says it would be a 4GB of RAM.

Wireless

It would also be very exciting if wireless charging could be one of the new features of the new iPad. However, Android Origin says there is a "pretty slim chance" of this feature getting in the new device.

Stylus

Other speculations also point to the new iPad Air getting a stylus, just like some of Samsung's tablets. Though Apple founder Steve Jobs was personally against the stylus technology before, we still could include this on the list as there is always a possibility that new Apple's CEO changes his mind. Note that the bigger iPad Pro is also rumored to come with a stylus based on the concept images made by 3D modeler and designer Martin Hajek. Other specs and details

Android Origin is also suggesting that Apple would bring back the mute toggle switch on its new iPad Air 3. It also noted that the new tablet would also likely get the new Apple Pay and Touch ID features.

Christian Today reported that the iPad Air 3 would likely get new processors. It said that the new A9 processors expected to be in the tablet and in other next Apple products are already being manufactured in a Samsung plant in Texas. It noted that the new chip will be thinner, lighter, but more efficient through 14 nm FinFET technology. This would also suggest that future Apple products with this new chips would be thinner.

Release Date

Mac World speculates that the new iPad Air 3 would likely be launched in October this year, the same month its predecessor was unveiled.
