Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman from the "Mythbusters" are all set to tackle one of the greatest mysteries that plagued video games and gamers for ages and ages, and that is how practical first person shooting games actually are, IGN reported.

"MythBusters" is a science entertainment program created by Peter Rees for Discovery Channel. It has been airing since 2003 and has amassed more than 250 episodes in its past 13 seasons. No doubt viewers and fans enjoy seeing the team with their Busted, Plausible and Confirmed myths, and this time they're planning to release a video game themed episode inspired by ID Software's 2005 game "DOOM."

Savage and Hyneman, joined by ID Software's Tim Willits, created a life size replica of a level from the "DOOM" universe and will attempt to tackle the game when set in real life.

Fans and viewers can catch a sneak peek of the proceedings through the promotional trailer posted by Bethesda Softworks, which shared that they referenced "DOOM 3 BFG Edition" for this new mission.

The video was also captioned, "In this special episode dedicated to the hobby near and dear to our hearts, we're excited that ID Software's own Tim Willits will be helping Adam and Jamie dig into an often-discussed topic of FPS games: Is it really possible for someone to carry all those health packs, guns, and even a chainsaw?"

Regular viewers of the show are aware though that the "Mythbusters" usually tackles more than one myth during each episode. If they are going for a video game themed show, maybe they'll also tackle popular shooting games such as "Call of Duty," "Gears of War" and more, according to End Gadget.

While many are excited to see how the "Mythbusters" will handle the challenge, they could take a tip from the 2005 live-action "DOOM" film starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Karl Urban. In the film, they managed to solve the problem of handling numerous weapons at a time and also taking out the bad guys by having various marine forces wield different weapons, such as chainsaws and guns, according to Cinema Blend.

Of course, that was a film and "DOOM" is a game where it's certainly easy enough to change weapons. In real life cycling between items one to nine isn't exactly possible, so it remains to be seen how Savage and Hyneman will fare when placed in a video game setting.

"Mythbusters" and the "DOOM" episode will air on Jan. 31 at 9 p.m. on the Discovery Channel.
