Grand Theft Auto 5 fans have been itching for some new details about the game. Ever since last year's trailer, Rockstar has been slow to give fans anything concrete but a few screenshots. As speculation mounts, several stabs have been taken at the release date, the latest says Grand Theft Auto 5 should hit shelves on March 29, 2013.

The release date comes from a poster named Rapter, who claims to have obtained the date from the retail store he (or she) works in.

"Where I work (A games retailer, will not disclose names.) the P.O.S system has updated the release date of GTA:V to 29th March 2013 the same as a U.K retailer overseas (All over google.). Now I'm not saying this is the legitimate release date but this could possibly be an insight into when we may see this game up on the shelves," Rapter posted in GTAForums.

A P.O.S system stands for Point of sale system, which is used to manage sales by a retailer.

Bear in mind, that until Rockstar officially comes out and names a date, this date is simply more speculation. However, a number of "leaks" seem to indicate that a March or May 2013 release date is most likely.

A report by Product-Reviews.net revealed that UK retailer Tesco recently changed their Grand Theft Auto 5 release date from December 28, 2012 to March 29, 2013 as well.

But a poster in the same thread on GTAForums brings up a good point:

"Unfortunately, it most likely means nothing. Retailers are guessing that the game will come in the first quarter of 2013, and Friday 29th March is the last possible date it could launch in that quarter. It is, as ever, a placeholder," wrote Staten.

The first tax quarter is scheduled to end on March 31, 2013, according to a quick Google search, and these dates may be revised to later, second quarter, and even third quarter dates, but let's hope that Grand Theft Auto 5 does make it into our homes sooner rather than later.
