A few days back, 343 Industries unveiled that the Flood would be back for Halo 4 in a new "Flood" Mode. Today, more information on that mode was revealed.

According to the Examiner, the extra mode will be a follow up to the infection gametype that was created in Halo 2. In refreshing the mode, the creators turned the infected players into human-based Flood creatures that are faster, strong, and can dish out a vast array of melee attacks.

In the new "Flood" mode, two players start out infected while the other eight try to survive. Those eight have shotguns and magnums for their defense. When a Flood slashes a survivor, the he is turned into a Flood who must then hunt down the remaining survivor. If a survivor makes it to the three minute mark or everyone else is converted to a Flood, then the round ends.

343 Industries even devised a fair strategy on deciding who is infected. The game will identify the last time a player was infected to determine if it is time to be a Flood once again.

The default settings for the mode as follows: 3 minutes for the length of the round, 3 rounds, and up to 10 players. Players will have the option of customizing their settings to make the rounds longer.

343 Industries also revealed information on the medals one receives in Flood Mode:
