Production on Sony's "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" has been delayed since last year, but Milla Jovovich, who plays lead heroine Alice, has confirmed that filming will commence this year when she, along with the cast and crew reunite in August, Coming Soon reported.

The "Resident Evil" film franchise is loosely based on the video game of the same name by Capcom. The first film in the franchise was released in 2002 and was followed by "Apocalypse" in 2004, "Extinction" in 2007, "Afterlife" in 2010 and "Retribution" in 2012. The filming for its sixth and final film, "The Final Chapter," had to be pushed back due to Jovovich's pregnancy, but now production is set to resume.

Jovovich shared the news on Monday through a Facebook post, where she talked about her second child with her husband and "Resident Evil" director Paul W.S. Anderson and the upcoming "The Final Chapter" film.

"So the countdown to our new baby beings, we only have ten weeks to go!" she wrote. She talked about gaining weight because of her pregnancy and added, "I have to be ready to start filming 'Resident Evil - The Final Chapter' in August of this year and I will also be nursing an infant simultaneously."

She also teased the film's wardrobe department to start making "easy mama access" Alice costumes, and shared that she had also started working on her diet with her trainer Harley Pasternak to keep herself healthy and get her ready for stunt work needed in the film.

Fans are still waiting for more news on plot details, such as Alice's fate, or how her story will finally end, according to Screen Rant.

All that's known so far is that filming will most likely take place in Cape Town, South Africa where it was originally prepped before Jovovich's pregnancy, said Coming Soon.

Also, "Prison Break" actor Wentworth Miller has been confirmed to reprise his role as Chris Redfield, according to Comic Book. Other characters that may come back are Jill Valentine, Rain Ocampo, Claire Redfield, Leon Kennedy and more, though there has been no official confirmation yet.

"Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" is reportedly aiming for a release date of September 2, 2016. If filming proceeds as planned in August, Anderson should probably consider releasing a trailer by March 2016, just in time to celebrate the 20th year anniversary of the "Resident Evil" video game franchise, according to Cinema Blend.
