When Rockstar Games featured a teaser video to announce the development of "Red Dead Redemption 2", fans of the Western-inspired open world game immediately shared their expectations and rumors began to circulate.

1. It will be a "permanent franchise"

Express reported that the sequel to "Red Dead Redemption" will be available for play only on Xbox One and PS4 when it releases. Rockstar has been hiring a lot of people to work on the upcoming game in its San Diego hub, the same site that developed the first installment as well as "Red Dead Revolver".

"Red Dead" is intended to become a "permanent franchise", according to Strauss Zelnick of Two-Two Interactive. As a permanent franchise, the goal of the company is to make it as independent as other successful games in the line, namely "Grand Theft Auto" and "Borderlands", which also featured several successful sequels through the years. According to Zelnick, they promise to deliver great quality games instead of simply providing more sequels, based on a GameSpot article.

2. It will focus on cooperative play

In "Red Dead Redemption", Rockstar introduced cooperative play through its DLC pack "Outlaws to the End". The pack featured six co-op missions where two to four players can accomplish the missions online. The approach also provided XP for any of the four classes available, namely Soldier, Gunslinger, Miner and Marksman. GameZone reported that Rockstar Games might expand on the cooperative concept. Fans also shared how fun it was to do missions with friends especially in a Wild West environment, so the game developer might cater to their top gamers' requests as they continue to develop "Red Dead 2".

3. A better storyline with more options

The success of "Red Dead Redemption" can be attributed to its unique Western concept and open-world gameplay. Players feel that they are getting more out of the purchase price by exploring an open-world environment and having the ability to choose which mission to do and how they are going to affect the results. The first installment had a great storyline but players had limited options when it came to the character's (John Marston) actions. The upcoming game is expected to offer more choices such as picking the character or group to support or selecting a mission route.

There is no confirmation yet as to when "Red Dead Redemption 2" will officially release, but gamers expect that it will deliver the same excellent quality and story that made them warmly receive the first game.
