It has been confirmed that major protagonist Kung Lao will return in the tenth installment of the "Mortal Kombat" franchise.

According to Air Herald, it was revealed by Finnish magazine Pelaaja that a much older Kung Lao will indeed return in "Mortal Kombat X." It also noted that that the new installment has been set 25 years in the future after the ninth installment.

Air Herald also revealed some new details about the game. In this new installment, characters can choose from three unique fighting styles. These fighting styles, says game director and producer, Ed Boon, will somehow give "variety" to the game. It also enumerated some of the fighting styles Kung Lao will get -- Tempest, Buzz Saw, and Hat Trick.

Tempest, Air Herald notes, allows the character to use his hat for more spinning attacks. He can also opt to use the hat as shield. The Buzz Shaw meanwhile makes his hat more suitable for battle by giving it razor blade edges which could hurt his opponent when he throws it at him/her. Hat Trick, on the other hand, allows him to throw the hat at his opponent while controlling it, a completely new feature for the character.

VG 24/7 says these new fighting styles of Kung Lao is by far the "most diverse" of any of the cast members. To date, confirmed cast members include Goro, Raiden, Scorpion, Sub Zero, Kano, and Quan Chi.

Meanwhile, Gamespot said that other characters confirmed to be in the new installment are D'Vorah, Ferra/Torr, Cassie Cage, and Kotal Kahn. In addition, it said that those who pre-order will be able to use former boss Goro.

As for Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage, iDigital Times said that the two may also possibly make it to the "Mortal Kombat X," citing NetherRealms president Ed Boon's statement. The report also said that Freddy Krueger will be included.

Game Spot added that there is a new Factions mode. This allows players to choose one out of five factions to join. Each of the faction of course has different sets of characters. Every win and challenges will be added to the faction's war points.

Video Gamer urged players to read the new Mortal Kombat comics to be able to get to know the new characters. According to the report, series writer Shawn Kittelsen said that the comic will introduce new characters. "There's only so much time in the game to explore these characters, so getting to know them is one of the most exciting things about this series. You'll meet young Cassie Cage in Chapter 4, and in Chapter 6 you'll see the secret origin of Kotal Kahn...D'vorah plays a key role in our first few arcs. We'll take every opportunity to dig a little deeper into the new characters. Two characters that we haven't gotten into yet but that I'm itching to write are Ferra and Torr. How did those two partner up?," Kittelsen was quoted in the report as saying.

The game is set to arrive on April 14 on PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
