Will the "Amazing Spider-Man" movie finally get its third installment?

Well, it looks like that a third film is likely to be released as it has been reported by Cinema Blend that a casting call has already been sent out.

According to the casting call issued by Bill Beckman Casting, they are looking for male and female extras aged 18-65. The casting call also revealed some important details about the upcoming film.

It revealed that the movie entitled "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" will be under Columbia Pictures' Sony division. It will star Andrew Garfield who earlier played the lead role of Peter Parker and Spider-Man in the previous movies and Dane DeHaan who previously portrayed the role of villain Green Goblin/Harry Osborn in the second movie installment.

The casting call also provides a short description for the film which states, "Peter Parker/Spider-Man faces a new challenge to protect New York City." It added that the shooting location will be in Atlanta, Georgia.

Although Sony already teased before that two more "Amazing Spider-Man" movies will be released, there have been doubts that the third one will finally be out by 2016. Cinema Blend noted that there were even rumors that Marvel Studios will take over and might ditch Andrew Garfield as the lead actor following a "disappointing box office reception" of the second film. It has even speculated that the third installment might be released in 2018. It also said that "Sinister Six" might even come out before "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" as it is slated for next year.

However, Cinema Blend's Catarina Cowden speculates that there is also a possibility that the film will be released earlier than 2018.

"The fact that there is already a casting call out means that shooting is either already happening, or very soon to come, so we have to imagine that the new Spidey film is scheduled for much earlier than 2018," Cowden said.

Despite the second movie being a "flop," Cowden believes that Sony might have put a lot of money and effort to the upcoming installment to make it better. She also noted that Sony has earlier predicted that the franchise will have a revenue growth of "as much as 36 percent".

Meanwhile, Yahoo's contributor Ben Bussey suggests that there is also a possibility that the new movie might actually be the "Sinister Six."

"On the other hand, could this 'Amazing Spider-Man 3' in fact turn out to be 'The Sinister Six?' Despite the relative limbo Sony's Spidey movies seem to be in at present, the planned spin-off movie based around the team of super-villains (from 'The Cabin in the Woods' writer-director Drew Goddard) is still officially lined up for a November 2016 release, meaning that's the film most likely to go into production next. It's almost a foregone conclusion that DeHaan's Green Goblin would appear in this super-villain team-up movie, and Garfield's Spider-Man could surely at least have a cameo. Could this casting call for 'Amazing Spider-Man 3' be a simple misunderstanding, then?," Bussey writes.

As of now, we still cannot confirm anything as Sony has not yet released any statement regarding the matter and no further details about the film have been reported.
