Playing second or third fiddle to Kobe Bryant will require a lot of prayers, particularly for humility.

Breathecast.com reported that Los Angeles Lakers point guard Jeremy Lin recently resorted to a blog to express his struggles with "humility" as he continues his first season with the team and its superstar Kobe Bryant. The Lakers also have a current 9-22 record, one of the worst in franchise history. The team is trying to avoid missing the NBA playoffs for two straight years, which adds more pressure on Lin.

For many years, Lin has been known to be expressive about his Christian faith, sharing that he is reliant and thankful to God for guiding him in his NBA career. He also constantly asks for prayers whenever he is feeling down or need some help in certain aspects of his life, such as watching Kobe miss game-winners and holding on to the basketball longer than required.

Lin wrote on JLin7.com:

"Spiritually, I've really been challenged to seek humility even more each day. When life is tough, it forces me to re-evaluate everything and learn to depend on God more than I initially think I need to. God continually stretches me and challenges me through basketball, and Im just trying to live each day pleasing Him. One verse that has really spoke to me recently is John 3:30 -- He must increase but I must decrease. This is counterintuitive to everything society preaches, but more of God and less of me is always the best formula!

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! Cant wait to eat some delicious food with my family!!

PRAYER REQUEST:

The journey I've been on has had its ups and downs and I appreciate all of your support throughout. Some of you have asked how to pray for me so I decided to start a prayer group where I can send out requests for those that want to pray and support!! Please feel free to share with others you think would be interested. So much of what happens is out of our control, but prayer has been a place I have consistently found peace with God. Thanks for being such supportive fans!"

In the same report by Breathecast.com, the 26-year-old Lin previously posted on Facebook during his Fan Appreciation Week in August 2014, "I'm not humble. Pride is [the] greatest sin I struggle with." He added, "But I'd say as I get older, go through more experiences in life and face tougher obstacles, I realize that I'm more sinful and need God more than I ever imagined."
