Several months ago, Screen Rant reported that a "Power Rangers" live-action movie reboot is also set to hit theaters soon. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, it said, is a sci-fi action TV series which was first aired in 1993 that tells the story of five ordinary teenagers who were blessed to fight the evil alien invaders who want to conquer the planet Earth. They have superpowers to "morph into superwarriors" who are imbued with many amazing fighting abilities. They also have the ability to call on giant robots called "Zords" which can be combined to become "Megazord."

The show finally came to an end after almost three years of airing, Screen Rant noted. However, the story continued as it was just rebranded to "Power Rangers" in the years to come. With these, several plots, stories, and other heroes and villains were introduced through the years.

"The Power Rangers brand, in other words, has always been alive and thriving in some form over the past two decades, as a multi-platform intellectual property that has included toys, video games, books..." Screen Rant noted.

A movie titled "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie" was even released in 1995. This was followed by another movie "Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie" released two years later.

To continue this legacy, Screen Rant said that Lionsgate and Saban Brands are now set to release a "Power Rangers original live-action feature."

"Lionsgate is the perfect home for elevating our Power Rangers brand to the next level...They have the vision, marketing prowess and incredible track record in launching breakthrough hits from 'The Hunger Games' to 'Twilight' and 'Divergent.' In partnership with the Lionsgate team, we're confident that we will capture the world of the Power Rangers and translate it into a unique and memorable motion picture phenomenon with a legacy all its own," Power Rangers co-creator Haim Saban was quoted in the report as saying.

Lionsgate Chief Executive Officer Jon Feltheimer meanwhile said, "We're thrilled to be partnering with Haim Saban and his team to maximize the potential of this immensely successful and universally recognized franchise...The Power Rangers stories and characters have been embraced by generations of audiences for more than 20 years, and today they are more powerful than ever. We have the ideal partner and the perfect brand with which to create a motion picture event that will resonate with moviegoers around the world for years to come."

No further details about the film have been divulged.
