The anticipation and hype leading up to the iPhone 5 has led to an unprecedented demand. Apple has already announced that two million of the iPhone 5 were sold in the first 24 hours of pre-orders. Now, analysts are predicting 10 million sales in the first weekend - that's as much as the Galaxy S3 sold in its first month.
If you were one of the many iPhone 5-hungry Apple fans that didn't snatch one up today, it may be a couple weeks until supplies catch up to demand. In the meantime, here's an iPhone 5 unboxing video that showcases the phone and its new, redesigned EarPods.
The iPhone 5 is the biggest overhaul to the iPhone series in a while. Not only does it offer technical improvements, it's also physically different.
For starters, the new iPhone 5 has a 4-inch screen. This makes the new handset taller, but not wider. Surprisingly, Apple has still managed to keep the handset thin - in fact, it's the thinnest iPhone ever. The new iPhone even puts the Galaxy S3 to shame, both in thickness and in weight.
It is also the first 4G LTE iPhone. This means that the iPhone 5 should have some of the fastest download speeds out there.
The iPhone 5 will also feature Apple's new iOS 6. The new mobile operating system introduces an improved Siri, gets rid of Google Maps (to many complaints), and also has the world's most popular social network, Facebook, integrated into it.
While the new Apple iPhone 5 does not come with an NFC chip, it will debut with the new 9-pin dock connector. Dubbed the 'Lightning' dock, the new connector is meant to allow for more space inside the iPhone 5 for its technology.
The iPhone 5 is available through AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint. T-Mobile is the only major U.S. nationwide carrier to not offer the iPhone 5.
Pricing for the iPhone 5 starts at $199 for the 16GB model, goes up to $299 for the 32GB model, and ends at $399 for the 64GB version. These are all with a two-year standard contract. An unlocked iPhone will start at $649 and increase in increments of $100 depending on storage size. Just keep in mind that the unlocked iPhone 5 won't be available for several weeks.
