The high fantasy themed action-adventure series video game "The Legend of Zelda" is coming to Nintendo's Wii U in 2015.

The arrival of the much-anticipated video game on Nintendo's gaming console was confirmed during the VGX 2014 event in Las Vegas on December 5. Creator Shigeru Miyamoto and series producer Eiji Aounuma showed a preview video during the event including footage of the two of them playing the game on Wii U, reports the Gospel Herald.

The VGX 2014 was a big day for Nintendo as the company raked in numerous game awards including Developer of the Year, Best Fighting Game for "Super Smash Bros," and Best Racing Game and Best Family Game for "Mario Kart 8," details Forbes.

"But perhaps the very best moment for Nintendo at the award show was the extended gameplay footage of the upcoming video game 'The Legend of Zelda,' the first new game in the franchise to hit Wii U," the report opined.

While there was no announcement during the event about the actual release date of "The Legend of Zelda," gaming enthusiasts believe that an October or November 2015 release is most likely since the last two "The Legend of Zelda" games were previously released before the Holiday season, notes the Gospel Herald.

Gameplay and Trailer

"The Legend of Zelda" is a series of video games based on a hero in green who lives in a land called Hyrule. The player, who takes on the role of the hero in green, goes through the series of fantasy adventures including dungeons, an army of enemies, among other missions or tasks.

"The game has been (made) so well and has had so many iterations that it practically has its own mythology, as well as legions of fans, many of whom were already asking for the game since the Wii U was released in 2012," the Gospel Herald report observed.

Erik Kain, contributing writer for Forbes, also has high praises for the game when he said: "The game looks lovely, and the big open world is full of promise. I can't wait to see how designers of the Zelda franchise handle a truly open world. But the coolest thing we saw (at the VGX 2014) was the way the game handles horseback-riding."

Through an interesting programming, the player is able to ride the horse through the trees. The game will automatically steer horses around the trees because as its video said: 'horses don't run into trees.' Players would also enjoy the ability to shoot enemies while riding a horse, points out the Gospel Herald.
