It's official - Katy Perry will roar her way through Super Bowl XLIX's halftime next year.

Unsurprisingly, the news was met with much welcome, and probably got some people wondering why she wasn't tapped for the gig much earlier.

This news had actually been announced weeks ago, with the singer tweeting her affirmation of the 2015 halftime performance, E! News said.

"Ahh, Sunday...Nothing but sitting on the couch, watching my new favorite sport," her hint of a tweet last month read.

Getting the "Roar" hitmaker to put on a show during the halftime of "new favorite sport" is indeed a perfect move by the NFL bigwigs. Here are 5 reasons for that:

She's All That's Bright, Beautiful, and Out of This World

If you've gone to one of Katy's concerts, you know what this means. For the uninitiated, the accompanying photo of this article is one example you can mull over. Her shows are choked with color and "gigantic sets, ornate light shows and elaborate costumes," as noted by Today. There's also the fact that she is easy on the eyes, even when she doesn't try to.

She's a Sporty Gal

MTV listed a number of sporty outfits that Katy wore in the past. She had dressed up as a cheerleader, boxer, and even a football player in past performances. Plus, she's also been spotted watching a couple of football games here and there. Then there's the fact that Adidas had hired her in 2012 for an ad campaign, as noted by MailOnline. So, you know, she's not just some pop superstar dancing her way through a major sporting event without a sincere love for the game.

Her Music Is Pop That Rocks

"Katy Perry's music is essentially the stuff Super Bowl halftime dreams are made of. Much of her catalog is high-energy, danceable pop that's just cheeky enough to be entertaining without losing a sponsorship," CNN observed.

She's Got a Lot of "Put on a Big Show" Experience

Katy's been in the international concert scene for a good number of years now. She has even made a concert documentary in 2012, "Part of Me." Currently, she's on her 130-show "Prismatic" world tour, which started in May this year and will end in March 2015. This is her third tour, by the way.

She Knows How to Have Fun

Not only that, she also knows how to make sure her fans and audiences have a great time!

"Super Bowl halftime performers are often known for their stage prowess and international fame, but as Perry has demonstrated in her videos, performances and 'Saturday Night Live' appearances, she's not afraid to laugh at herself," Today pointed out.
