Melissa Burton, the mother of 26-year-old Afton Elaine 'Star' Burton, who would soon be marrying 80-year-old Charles Manson in prison, thinks the mass murderer really loves her daughter.

While expressing a bit of concern to Star's engagement to Charles as any mother would, Melissa believes that the inmate has true feelings for her daughter, reports ABC News.

"He loves her. He does. I think he does. She has been good to him. And he has been good to her," Melissa told ABC News in an interview.

While they have not been officially married yet, Star already considers and calls herself as Charles Manson's wife, notes CNN.

"He filed for the first round of paperwork. I'm completely with him, and he's completely with me. It's what I was born for, you know. I don't know what else to say," states Star.

May-December Romance

The May-December romance between Star and Charles began 10 years ago when then 16-year-old Afton discovered Manson.

CNN reports that Star was first attracted to the convicted mass murderer after reading up on Manson's environmental philosophy he calls ATWA, which stands for air, trees, water, and animals.

"It's the life on the planet, you know. The earth is a rock and everything else on it is ATWA," Star said.

They began communication through exchange of letters that eventually evolved into phone conversations. When she turned 19, she moved to Corcoran in California where the Corcoran State Prison was also located and where Charles Manson has been serving time for the past 25 years, details CNN.

Since then, she has been talking to Manson every day by phone and visits the inmate on most weekends.

"We talk about anything and everything, you know, like what's going on today, who's doing what. I try to help him file papers and stuff like that," Star shared.

Wedding Plans

On November 7, Star received a California wedding license to marry Charles Manson. The couple has yet to announce a wedding date in prison but has 90 days or until February 5, 2015 to do so, when the license expires, points out ABC News.

Melissa said that she will not be attending the wedding but is optimistic that it will push through.

"It's going to happen. She (Star) doesn't know when. It's up to the prison to give the date," Burton said.

Manson is serving time for conspiracy in the murders of seven people including pregnant actress Sharon Tate back in 1968. He is not eligible for parole again until 2027. But he already sought parole 12 times previously, all of them denied, with the last being in 2012.
