November 1 marks the date that many Jordan and Slam Dunk fans are looking forward to - the release of the new "Slam Dunk Collection Pack!
In a report by Sneaker News, the pack will feature a couple of basketball sneakers borne out of a collaboration between top sports brand Nike and Japanese manga artist Takehiko Inoue - the Air Jordan Retro 6 "Slam Dunk" and the Jordan Super.Fly 3 "Slam Dunk". The Slam Dunk collection is unique because the shoes display graphics of scenes from the popular 1990s manga series "Slam Dunk". The story primarily focused on Hanamichi Sakuragi, a notorious high school student who discovered his passion for basketball upon entering high school. The series became a huge hit among students and teenagers and spread throughout Asia and even in some parts of the Western hemisphere.
The "Slam Dunk" Collection coincides with Jordan Brand's Year of the Air Jordan VI. The Air Jordan 6 features classic artwork from the original manga series while the Jordan Super.Fly 3 presents new graphics featuring a modern-day Sakuragi, still playing intensely and improving his game.
Inoue said about the shoes, "I have been hugely inspired by Michael Jordan's game, as well as his attitude. It's been a great honor to have this opportunity. At first, he was someone from a different planet - he could stay in the air longer than anybody else. Then I began to see him as someone who always encourages you to set a vision and challenge yourself to achieve it."
In a report by JobsnHire.com, the Jordan Super.Fly 3 is the latest performance model of Jordan Brand. It will be available at a retail price of $185. The shoes will be released at Nike.com, Footlocker.com, Foot Locker retail outlets, and House of Hoops by Foot Locker.
Nike.com reported that the box reads "Black/White-Varsity Red". The black 3M upper features new images of Sakuragi. The toe area, ankle support and parts of the laceloops are dark grey. The midsole is white, the outsole tongue is varsity red. The inner lining and insole are also red. The Jumpman logo on the tongue is grey while the larger Jumpman logo at the heel area is red. The shoes also feature a unique traction pattern and FlightPlate, making it an excellent pair on indoor and outdoor basketball courts. Jordan Super.Fly 3 is a great shoe for guards in making quick cuts and shots from the perimeter. It is also a good pair for the game's big men. Cushioning is solid and the FlightPlate provides players the needed support and durability.
