As expected, the best MCs were on stage during the 2014 BET Hip Hop Awards held in Atlanta last month and aired only on October 14, Tuesday.

In an event to toast the game's best performers and cyphers, both fresh faces and veterans showed off their wares in the mic, reports MTV News.

Apart from the highly-anticipated stars and the surprise announcement of the engagement of Erica Mena and Bow Wow, the biggest news to come out of the event are the winners for the 19 awards, details E! News.

E! said that BET released the list of winners before the show hit the small screen. But it still did not take the cake from the telecast as it turned out to be quite entertaining.

Brandy, YG, and MC Lyte, among others, spiced up the event by dishing out performances during the ceremonies.

Biggest Rap Battle in History

What proved to be the special highlight of the show however was the "battle" between Drake and Murda Mook during the live cypher portion of the show, says another MTV News report.

Well, it was only a one-sided battle as Drake did not take the bait during the event.

Mook called out on Rihanna's ex- while rapping over the latter's "0-100/The Catch Up" beat. His cypher claimed that he is the king of the rap battle and that he is quite "comfortable in first place," details the second MTV News report.

The New York rapper even "threatened to cripple Drake's career and putting it back in a wheelchair."

Murda's lyrical jabs to Drizzy came several months after talks of a potential battle between the two rappers first came out in public. The two were in a club and Drake issued first the challenge to Mook in what could be the "biggest rap battle in history."

"It just came out of nowhere. A couple of drinks start floating around and then he just came out of nowhere and he said he would battle me," Mooks told MTV News.

"He can rap really well. I'm not saying he would win. He'd have to practice a lifetime, maybe. I don't think there's anybody in the world (who) can beat me," added Mook.

But judging from the awards handed out that night, it was Drake who was quite impressive and overwhelming, bagging four trophies. Aside from winning the "Album of the Year" (for "Nothing Was the Same") and "Best Hip Hop Video" plums, Drake was named Best Live Performer and took home the People's Champ Award as well.
