Disney and Marvel are coming together for the first time in the animated movie "Big Hero 6."

The fusion became a reality when The Walt Disney Company acquired Marvel Entertainment for $4.24 billion in August 2009, as recounted by The Huffington Post.

"Big Hero 6" was an obscure Marvel comic book series. Disney writer, director and voice actor Don Hall says its movie version is a blend of epic action scenes that Marvel comics books do so well and the humour and heart that Disney Animation is known for, The Huffington Post reported.

The trailer of the latest Disney movie was launched and its colourful characters revealed at the New York Comic Con, now ongoing at the Javits Center in New York City until October 12.

The film's trailer did make quite a splash at the New York Comic Con which even had George Clooney as a surprise guest, reported The Hollywood Reporter.

The panel of "Big Hero 6" at the event had directors Don Hall and Chris Williams as well as producer Roy Conli, noted The Hollywood Reporter.

The trio even reminisced about their visit to the New York Comic Con three years ago which paved the way for the Disney animated movie project.

"Big Hero 6" is scheduled to hit movie screens all over the world starting October 23 beginning with Japan, in time for the Tokyo International Film Festival, and Russia.

Colourful Characters

As an obscure comic series, the most familiar characters for "Big Hero 6" are the young inventor Hiro Hamada and his plus-sized inflatable robot Baymax, reported /Film.

The movie is an action-packed comedy-adventure about the special bond that develops between Baymax (voice of Scott Adsit), and Hiro (voice of Ryan Potter).

/Film also gave a detailed synopsis of the film:

"When devastation hit the city of San Fransokyo, Hiro was catapulted into the midst. He turns to Baymax and his four other close friends including adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago (voice of Jamie Chung), neatnik Wasabi (voice of Damon Wayans Jr.), chemistry whiz Honey Lemon (voice of Genesis Rodriguez) and fanboy Fred (voice of T.J. Miller)."

Determined to find out the mystery that hit their city, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high tech heroes called "Big Hero 6," added /Film.

Other characters which viewers will see on screen in the upcoming Disney movie include villain Yokai, Hiro's brother Tadashi, Cass Hamada, Mochi, Alistair Krei, Robert Callaghan, Mr. Yama, and Officer Gerson.
