On Saturday, September 27, George Clooney left his bachelor days behind him.

The actor tied the knot with 36-year old British human rights lawyer, Amal Alamuddin, at the Aman Canal Grande hotel in Venice, Italy, a 16th century palazzo where they also spent the night. The wedding ceremony was conducted by their good friend and ex-mayor of Rome, Walter Veltroni, a report from Daily Mail says.

The newlyweds made their first public appearance as husband and wife in a stylish watertaxi on the way to the Belmond Hotel Cipriani on Sunday to meet their guests for brunch. Aside from their platinum wedding bands, Alamuddin was seen wearing a Giambattista Valli Couture dress dotted with bright flowers while her husband wore a grey suit with a crisp white shirt. The couple was greeted by throngs of fans as they made their way across the blue waters of Venice in a vintage-inspired wooden speed boat that had the Italian word for love "amore" adorned on its side.

Clooney and Alamuddin were meticulous in the planning of their three-day wedding celebration. Their guests were each given a host to assist and oversee their plans. The couple also gave out presents and letters that contain itineraries for the weekend as well as advice on places to visit in Venice.

According to Mirror, to ensure there will be no wedding crashers and unofficial photos from the ceremony, guests were given a special code on a camera and phone that they all had to take with them everywhere. All images that were taken on the approved camera were routed to a database that only Clooney's people could access, so that the perpetrator could easily be tracked down if photos leak to the media.

The couple was joined by around 90 guests during the reception, including their family members, celebrities Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Bill Murray, U.S. Vogue editor Anna Wintour, U2 singer Bono, and many more.

Following the ceremony, Daily Mail reports that the guests dined on a five-course meal by Italian chef Riccardo de Pra and canapés by Frederico Salza. Guests were treated to a menu that featured Tuscan and Venetian delicacies, with popular dishes including smoked tuna-roe with beans, mussel soup, and sautéed shellfish with lemon garlic white wine.

It's still undetermined what Alamuddin wore as her wedding dress. But speculations from US Weekly stated that she wore an Alexander McQueen gown designed by Sarah Burton for the event.
