Day 14 at the U.S. Open was an exciting day for tennis, with No. 2-seeded Novak Djokovic advancing to the men's singles finals and No. 4- seeded Serena Williams winning the Grand Slam title.

Serbian Djokovic defeated Spaniard David Ferrer in four sets 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 and 6-2 on Sunday, advancing to the men's singles finals match scheduled for Monday. Djokovic will face No. 3-seeded Andy Murray, from Great Britain, on Monday at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The Serbian player, who is the returning champion for the U.S. Open, will not have an easy match against Murray. The Scotsman scored a major win against Djokovic the last time the two met, leading to an Olympic gold medal.

On the women's side, American Williams defeated Belarusian Victoria Azarenka in three sets 6-2, 2-6 and 7-5 on Sunday, leading to her to win her fourth championship at the U.S. Open and 15th Grand Slam title overall, ESPN reported.

The match, which lasted over two hours, was originally scheduled for Saturday but was postponed until Sunday due to rough weather. According to ESPN, Williams, who was a favorite to win the title, became the first over-30 player to win the U.S. Open since Martina Navratilova in 1987.

"I honestly can't believe I won. I really was preparing my runner-up speech, because I thought, 'Man, she's playing so great,' " Williams told reporters during the trophy presentation. "I'm really shocked."

Despite her loss at the French Open in May, Williams went on to win Wimbledon and an Olympic gold medal in London this summer. With no plans to retire, Williams could go on to surpass Navratilova in overall Grand Slam wins.

The two matches, which were originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, was postponed due to inclement weather. The weather delay forced U.S. Open officials to extend the championship an additional day.
