Expect assassin versus assassin action before the year is over. "Assassin's Creed: Rogue" is the latest chapter in the hugely popular open-world historical fiction adventure game and will be available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this November 11.

Picking up where "Assassin's Creed: Black Flag" left off, you play as Shay Patrick Cormac of the Knights Templar. IGN.com reports that "Rogue" will feature both land and sea-based gameplay, further opening the map for you to explore. The sailing portion of "Assassin's Creed 3", which became central to "Assassin's Creed 4", will now be set in a North Atlantic that includes "new enemy tactics, exotic new weapons, and an arctic world full of icebergs and other dangers."

Serving a complementary role to "Assassin's Creed: Unity", that will only be released for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, "Rogue" is set against the backdrop of the Seven Years' War between 1756-1763. The Irish-born Shay is a former assassin-turned Templar who must cull the ranks of his fellow assassins.

According to Time.com, the timeline for "Rogue" occurs almost at the same time as the events in "Assassin's Creed 3" which was set during the American Revolution. "Rogue" will also serve as a sort of bridge between both "Assassin's Creed 3" and "Assassin's Creed 4," while being a precursor to the French Revolution-centric "Assassin's Creed: Unity" that is arriving on October 28.

Audiences have enjoyed the series from Altair ibn-La'Ahad's first foray in 2007's original "Assassin's Creed" game, to Ezio Auditore's turn in the sequel, and the subsequent assassin's that have starred since.

Game developer Ubisoft describes the new protagonist, Shay Cormac, as "an all-new type of Assassin in the throes of a dark transformation," foreshadowing the betrayal and conflict that will be central to the plot of "Rogue." The game itself is a collaboration between Ubisoft Sofia as well as Ubisoft's studious in Singapore, Montreal, Quebec, Chengdu, Milan, and Bucharest, a truly global effort if ever there was one.

New ways of performing assassinations are also likely to be introduced in "Rogue," owing to the debut of an air rifle with different types of ammunition, and grenades for confusing, distracting, and eliminating enemies.

Preordering "Rogue" will allow players to download the "Siege of Fort de Sable Mission" and "The Ultimate Hunter Pack" which will include new weapons, ship sails, and a ship wheel.
